The National Honor Society (NHS) at Satellite High School is kicking off its annual "We Care" Project with a donation drive to benefit the Genesis House, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping homeless women, pregnant women, and mothers with children.
First-period teachers will have a cardboard collection box with a flier attached in their classrooms. Donations will be accepted from February 3 through February 14, with the goal of collecting essential items to support the Genesis House's mission of providing a safe and supportive environment for those in need.
Requested Donation Items
The following items are being collected:
Baby supplies: Baby wipes, baby wash
Personal care items: Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, toothpaste
Snacks: Individual fruit cups, Jello, chips, cookies, crackers
Kitchen essentials: Ketchup, salad dressing (Ranch is a favorite), tall kitchen garbage bags, silverware, pots/pans, kitchen utensils (e.g., large spoons, spatulas)
Other necessities: Kleenex
Competition and Incentives
To encourage participation, NHS is organizing a friendly competition among first-period classes.
Prizes:
One prize for the class with the most total items donated.
Another prize for the class with the highest number of items donated per person.
Winning classes will receive donuts later that week!
Donation boxes will be collected during the beginning of first period on Monday, February 17. Teachers who did not receive a donation box can contact Mrs. Kingsley or an NHS member to request one.

They are dedicated to fostering education, self-discipline, and independence from public assistance. Residents also have access to counseling, personal improvement classes, and health care services in a safe and supportive environment.
