we care

The National Honor Society (NHS) at Satellite High School is kicking off its annual "We Care" Project with a donation drive to benefit the Genesis House, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping homeless women, pregnant women, and mothers with children.

First-period teachers will have a cardboard collection box with a flier attached in their classrooms. Donations will be accepted from February 3 through February 14, with the goal of collecting essential items to support the Genesis House's mission of providing a safe and supportive environment for those in need.

Requested Donation Items

The following items are being collected:

  • Baby supplies: Baby wipes, baby wash

  • Personal care items: Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, toothpaste

  • Snacks: Individual fruit cups, Jello, chips, cookies, crackers

  • Kitchen essentials: Ketchup, salad dressing (Ranch is a favorite), tall kitchen garbage bags, silverware, pots/pans, kitchen utensils (e.g., large spoons, spatulas)

  • Other necessities: Kleenex

To encourage participation, NHS is organizing a friendly competition among first-period classes.

  • Prizes:

    • One prize for the class with the most total items donated.

    • Another prize for the class with the highest number of items donated per person.

    • Winning classes will receive donuts later that week!
