The first mandatory BETA Club meeting of the year will be held after school on September 5th in Mrs. Calhoun's Room 8-205. Students MUST pick up the permission form before the meeting and bring it to the club meeting in order to attend. These are available in 8-205. This meeting is mandatory and it is for CURRENT members only. Please see Mrs. Calhoun if you have any questions or concerns about the meeting.

The Club Rush event sponsored by @shs.studentgovernment will take place Friday, Sept 6 during all 3 lunches! Various clubs will set up tables for prospective new members to find out additional information and sign up if interested! If you are interested in starting a club or have questions about SHS clubs, we will have a station where you can request a club/express your interest in a club being started! This way we can help find a club sponsor to jump-start the process! We can’t wait to connect you with other students who share your interests!

The Key Club will be meeting this Wednesday after school @ 3:45 in Room 38-209. Please see Mrs. Stewart if you are interested in becoming a member! Key Club members around the world are learning how to lead and stand for what’s right through service and volunteerism. High school students are making a positive impact as they serve others in their schools and communities.

National Honor Scorps! There will be an NHS meeting for current members only on Thursday, 8/29 at 8 am in 8-135. Please reach out to Mrs. Kinglsey if you are a member but cannot attend.

End of the week Academics recap: Our scholarly Scorps have already started learning and showcasing their curiosity, collaboration, and great note taking skills! End of the week Athletics recap: Practices for Swim and Dive 🏊‍♂️, Football 🏈, Marching Band 🥁, and Volleyball 🏐 are underway to prepare for their first games and matches! Let’s go Scorps!

🦂 vs 🐅 🏈 Tomorrow is the first football game of the season! 🏈 We’re hosting the kickoff classic against the Cocoa Tigers! Make sure you come out and support your Scorps! Kick off at 7 PM! Sideline Guidelines: Due to BPS new security policy, the sidelines access will be limited at Satellite High School (before, during and after game time). All spectators that are on the sideline MUST have a badge or wristband visible. Only BADGED individuals are allowed on the sideline between the 25 Yard lines. All other sideline spectators must have a wristband (provided by SHS) and are limited to the D Zone areas by the endzones.

To keep our students and staff safe, SHS is implementing a new badge system for all students. The ID badge allows anyone on campus to quickly identify faculty, staff, or students and provides validation that the individual belongs on the school's campus. Listed are the high expectations the students will need to follow. This will help increase safety and security for all students and staff on campus. - ID badge must be visible at all times and shall NOT be clipped to the bottom hem of your clothing where it is difficult to see. - ID badges used to obtain a hall pass during class time - ID badges utilized to scan onto busses - ID badges used to check in at attendance when you are tardy - ID badges must be worn to enter cafeteria - ID badges visible to enter the media center and to check out books - ID badges visible to buy prom, homecoming and event tickets - ID badges must be visible to participate in school day events Lost Badge? Temporary/Replacement badges will be available in the front office. *1st Temporary Badge is free. * Additional temporary badges will have a monetary fee ** Replacement badges will have a monetary fee ***Students are permitted to purchase their own break-away lanyards!

The senior parking lot is starting to look as unique and diverse as our class of 2025! Special thanks to Mrs. Vitaliano, the senior class sponsor, for hanging with the seniors and supervising as they expressed their creativity! ❤️🩶🤍🦂

Picture day is much earlier than it has been in the past. It is Thursday, August 15th! Students will go to take their photos during the following periods: 9th graders through World History or APHUG 10th graders through their Science (Chem/Bio/Env Sci) 11th & 12th graders through English EFSC students without a grade level class listed above will need to go to the auditorium preferably 4th period (but any time during the day when possible).

Planning and collaboration may be ending today -- on paper -- but our staff will continue to support one another through the school year! This past week of pre-planning felt great to reconnect after the summer and get back into the classroom! After reviewing all of the new updates and spending time preparing for school year 24-25, we're ready!

Attendance Procedures for Unexcused Absences Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. Assignments & Assessments: Missed assignments or assessments* must be made up in person with the teacher by appointment within 72 hours of the unexcused absence or no credit will be awarded. *In the interest of test security, teachers may administer an alternate assessment that is different than the one given to the rest of the class School Privileges & Activities: Students who accrue 10 or more unexcused absences during a semester in any period shall be ineligible for the following school privileges and activities until the start of the next semester: · Field trips · Parking on campus · Student Government · School and Non-School sponsored clubs · Participation in Athletics or Cheerleading · Homecoming Dance · Prom · Special assemblies or events during school · Special events after school Habitual Truant: Students who accrue 15 or more unexcused absences during a semester shall be referred to Truancy and to the Department of Motor Vehicles to suspend the student’s driver license (if applicable) per Florida Statues. ELO/EPO Contract: Students on an ELO or EPO contract who accrue 10 or more unexcused absences during a semester shall be considered in violation of their open enrollment contract.
